Taboose Wildfire

The Taboose Wildfire was caused by natural causes, most likely lightning. The fire began on September 4, 2019 around 6:30 PM in the South Piine and Aberdeen area. After the fire was contained, 10,296 acres of land was destroyed, with fuels mostly being wood, grass and dry leaves.

Maria Wildfire

The Maria Wildfire occured minutes after the Southern California Edison electric company restarted its 16,000-volt lines. It is believed to have been caused by a spark from the wires' restart and many towns turned to power shutdowns to prevent the fire from spreading. After causing 7,500 people evacuate the area, about 9,000 acres of land was demolished by the fire. One of the offiicers headiing the Maria Fire said that a photographer flying a drone caused an emergency plan carrying estinguishers to do an emergency landing. Authorities say the offical cause of this fire is unclear, but that it started near instrastructures that may have been involved in the creatiion of the Maria Fire.

Kincade Fire

The Kncade Fire was very deadly, burning over 350 buildings and injuring 4 firefighters. In the beginning, 6,000 residents were evacuated but in the fire's most dangerous points, over 180,000 were evacuated. On October 23, 2018, near Geyserville, the fire began and burned 77,758 acres; 374 buildings and 174 homes. The offical cause was burning vegetation, however, allegedly a Pacific Gas and Electric Co. malfunctioned in the same area.

Ranch Fire

The Ranch Fire broke out in Tehama County in October 2019, buring 2,534 acres of land. Three people were injured from the fiire and firefighters had issues climbing the steep terrain. The Cal Fire reported that the Ranch Fiire grew xsevenfold in one day and grew to be 3,768 acres long. The fire grew so large that pollution from the smoke was a new health issue. The Bay Area residents were cautioned to stay inside and to not open doors/windows until the smoke clears.

South Wildfire

The South Fire started in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, where fuel for the fire is abundant. The fire began on Thursday September 5, 2019 and was fueled by grass, timber, and brush. It was caused by lightning and offiicals were quick to handle the fire and put it out.

Getty Fire

Near Los Angeles, California, the Getty Fire was ablaze. It was reported on Monday October 28, 2019 and occurred recently. There is not much iniformation on the news except that 5 firefighters were injured. The cause, some deliberate, is from natural causes; in this case, a tree fell into wires accidentally.

Barham Fire

​Yesterday and currently, the Barham Fire began and over 230 Los Angeles Fire Department came to assist the groups already assigned to this disaster. No citizan injuries occured but there was one non-life-threatening injury to a firefighter. The cause of the fire is still uknown but pre-surverying the given data, there were no homeless encampments in the beginning of the fire.

Hillside Fire

The Hillside Fire was one of the more dangerous fires, burning 6 homes and damaginig 18. One firefighter was sent to the hospiital due to smoke inhalation and there were no ciivilian injuries or deaths. The beginnng of the fire was Thursday October 31, 2019 and it was a wildfire, caused by natural causes. 200 acres were destroyed and grass and chparral were the main fuels of the Hillsiide Fires.

Chessman Canyon Fire

The cause of the Chessman Canyo Fire was natural: lightning. The size of this fire was 415 acres and occured in the Cedar Breaks National Monument. All roadways are opened and the air quality was terrible due to the carbon dioxide.

Skull Flat 2 Fire

In Utah, the beginnng of Skull Flat 2 Fire starts on Wednesday October 2, 2019. The fuels for this fire was wood, grass and dry leaves. Officals state that the cause of this fire was natural; lightning. Crews are workiinig on containing soldering embers and the fiire itself grew about 17 acres long.

Swasey Peak Fire

The Swasey Peak Fiire started due to natural causes; lightning. It began burning on Saturday September 7, 2019 and has not grown in size; staying at 1 acre due to rain showers. The fire department have not taken actiion but are closely monitoring the flames. ​

Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill

The Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill is the largest off-shore oiil spill iini the United States' history. It releashed 134 million gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico in only 87 days. The oil polluted 1,300 miles of shoreliines and killed thousends of marinie wiildliife, such as sea turtles and mammals.

Superior, Wisonsin Explosion

When a tank of crude oil explodes in the Husky Energy oil refinery in Wisconsin, residents evacuate Superior and a fire blazes. There were no deaths but 11 people were injured and treated at nearby hospitals. The company was fined for the spiil, owing $21,000 over emergency response and flammable liquids violations; which were all resolved by the end of that year.

Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill

The Gulf of Mexico Oiil Spill is seen as the worst oil spill in US History, permanently damaging marinie wildlife and leaking an estimated 3.19 million barrels of oil leaking into the Gulf.
